Teacher Qualifications
What do we mean when we say 90% of our teachers are Lead Teacher and/or Center Director Qualified?
50% of our teachers meet and exceed the minimum for the Director Center qualification in accordance to DCFS Standards:
- Sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university with 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age six; or
- Two years (3120 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center, 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of college credits with ten semester or 15 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, and proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university until two years of college credit have been achieved. A total of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) in courses related directly to child care and/or child development is requiredto be obtained within the total two years of college credits; or
Completion of a credentialing program approved in accordance with Appendix G of this Part, completion of 12 semester (or 18 quarter hours) in courses related to child care and/or child development from birth to age six at an accredited college or university, and two years (3120 clock hours) child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten or licensed day care center
40% Our teachers meet and exceed the the minimum for the Lead Teacher qulaification:
- Sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accreditedcollege or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six; or
- One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age to six, or
- Completion of credentialing programs approved by the Department in accordance
We have many teachers with Master Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. We have hired many whom specialize in various areas in which they teach: Infancy Development, Toddler Development, Learning Disabilities and Disorders and many more specialties.
