Advanced Toddler Daily Schedule

8:00 am: Your child can't wait to join their classmates in the classroom.  They immediately become engaged playing with the large wooden trucks.  As they ride and push them they work on building their gross motor skills.

8:30 am: It's learning center time.  Your child is eager to explore the sand table with his favorite truck which he will push and pull, pour and dig which increases gross motors skills and hand-eye coordination.

9:00 am: Gathering the children on the carpet to practice some math skills using the calendar the teacher notices that the children are particularly restless today.  So up she jumps to engage them in a game of kangaroo jump. Using the CD player and a song about numbers they learn to jump like a kangaroo to the number they hear. The teacher notices how your child's motor skills have progressed and they are able to move their arms and legs in unison where only months ago they moved separately.

9:30 am: It's snack time. The children help themselves to organic crackers, organic fruit slices and organic grape juice, learning to share and take turns as the food is passed around the table.

10:00 am: Time to go to the park. After everyone is strapped into the buggies they are off to the park. Once at the park the teacher engages the children in a balloon toss game.  Working on their hand-eye coordination as well as improving their full-body coordination the children happily try kicking, and catching the floating balloons.  The teacher makes a point to use verbal support to encourage all the children.

11:00 am: Back from the park the teacher sets up a marble painting activity. Each child is given paper, paint, marbles and a bread pan. Each child can choose the color they would like to use, building vocabulary skills as the teacher talks them through the activity and makes comments on the things they are doing.  They then use their hands to paint with the marbles they have coated in various colors.  Helping to refine their small motor skills the children love the feel of the marbles covered in paint.

11:30 am: With hands fully washed from the art activity it's time for some music and movement.  Putting in one of their favorite songs the children pretend that they are all different kinds of animals singing along with the song.

12:00 pm: It's been a busy morning and your child is ready for their nutritious lunch.  Choosing an all natural eco tuna tortilla wrap or a veggie tortilla wrap with organic lettuce, organic tomatoes, Monterey jack cheese and serving themselves some organic fruit salad their independence is soaring.

12:30 pm: Full and sleepy it's time to lay down on their cots and rest.

2:30 pm: After waking up from a peaceful slumber it's time for another organic snack.  Today the children enjoy organic oatmeal cookies and low-fat organic milk.

3:00 pm: Rested and full it's time to run around again.  The teacher decides it is a perfect opportunity to take half the class up to the tree house playroom, while the other half gets time on the computer.  Switching groups they all enjoy both activities.

4:00 pm: It's story time.  To help foster literacy development the teacher has chosen to read and do an activity with the nursery rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock.  Together with the teacher the children help fill in missing words in the rhyme and practice reciting the rhyme.  During this activity the children will view written words, start to develop an appreciation for the written word and develop visual memory skills.

4:30 pm: It's learning center time again and your child chooses to help the teacher count the cars in the classroom. Once done with this activity it's time to help tend to the plants in the nature center.  They particularly enjoy using the watering can and the teacher uses this opportunity to talk about what the plants need to live just like our own bodies.

5:30 pm:  Time to get ready to go home. You arrive to find your child listening to a book on tape of a story told in both English and Spanish.  They jump up to give you a hug and the teacher fills you in on their exciting day of learning and discovery
